We are almost ready to animate our Meerkats and create our film. However, first we need a backdrop and a stage. We made our staging area from a box and tissue paper. Meerkats live in the desert so we created the a hot, sandy scene: Click on an image to enlarge it below.

We had a wonderful afternoon making Meerkats from modelling clay with our parents. Here are the finished Meerkats that we will animate next week with our parents.

Green Screen technology

We have written our scripts, worked on our voices and we have now filmed part of the 'live action' scenes in front of a green screen. This means we can add in any background we want at the editing stage. The process of using a 'green screen' is called 'Chromakey'

Because we will be animating Sunny, the Meerkat from the book we are reading, we need to practise using modelling clay. Today we made snails and then had a go at making a short animation of a snail race:
