Bonus points for knowing the reference to this weather based literature pun:

And the bonus point goes to Jacob for explaining the reference. He shall receive two keys on Wednesday!

And, of course, Bracknell has been flooded recently, and sandbags are used to prevent floodwater penetrating homes (many are complaining that sandbags are in shortage, and it is frustrating for homeowners in flooded areas as they are a very simple, cheap yet effective way of preventing severe damage to private property - therefore the question "a handbag?" can be read humorously as a hopeful request for this important flood-water barrier).

A reference to 'The Importance of Being Earnest' by Oscar Wilde:

Lady Bracknell exclaims at an important moment after learning that Ernest was found in a handbag in the cloakroom of Victoria station - "A handbag?"
